Account management
Your Unit Oncall account is the identity you use to sign in and the place where your personal preferences live. It exists independently from any Organization you belong to: leaving every Organization does not delete your account, and deleting your account requires that you first leave every Organization you are in.
This page covers what you can change from Account settings in the console.
Profile
You can edit the following fields on your profile:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Your display name (up to 100 characters). |
| Avatar | A square image. Uploaded inline and cropped in the console. |
| Company / Department | Optional, free text. |
| Bio | Optional, free text (up to 500 characters). |
Your email address is your account identifier and is verified separately. See Authentication for email verification and linked sign-in methods.
Language preference
The Preferred language setting controls the language you see in the console and in personal-scope notifications (for example, password change emails). Available choices:
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| English | Force the account to use English. |
| 日本語 (Japanese) | Force the account to use Japanese. |
| System default | Follow the browser / system locale. |
This preference is per-user. It does not affect content that is shared with others — Buddy-generated artifacts shown to a Team (Runbooks, Postmortems, Org-scoped notifications) follow the Organization's default_locale instead. See Organization settings for that field.
Switching between Organizations
If you belong to more than one Organization, the Organization switcher in the top navigation lets you move between them. Some Organizations enforce MFA or required SSO providers, so switching into them may prompt you to satisfy those policies first. See Authentication.
Deleting your account
Account deletion is a guarded, multi-step flow designed so you can recover if you change your mind:
- Eligibility check. You must first leave (or be removed from) every Organization you belong to. The console shows which Organizations still hold you as a member.
- Request deletion. Unit Oncall sends a confirmation email to your account address.
- Confirm via the email link. Confirming starts a grace period during which the account is marked for deletion but not yet erased.
- Cancel any time during the grace period. You can cancel the scheduled deletion from your account settings; doing so cleanly stops the process and restores normal access.
- Automatic deletion. If you do not cancel, your account is deleted by a background job after the grace period expires.
While deletion is pending, the console shows your Deletion status with the scheduled deletion time so you can see exactly where you are in the flow.
If you are the only owner of an Organization
The eligibility check requires you to leave every Organization first, but the platform does not let an Organization's only owner just walk out — that would leave the Organization with nobody in charge of billing, governance, and member management. If you are the sole owner of any Organization, you have to handle that Organization before you can leave it:
- Transfer ownership to another member. Promote them to the
ownerrole first (only an existing owner can promote to owner), then leave the Organization yourself. See Roles and permissions. - Delete the Organization itself. Cancel any active subscription first, then start the Organization deletion flow described in Organization management. Once the Organization is gone, it stops blocking your account deletion.
Either path is fine; pick the one that matches whether the Organization should continue without you.
